Two bomb Detonated in Syria as security forces are attacked in Damascus


DAMASCUS, Syria - Syrian state TV said Friday that two vehicles packed with explosives had been detonated in Damascus, reportedly targeting state security services.

The TV said Friday's explosions were caused by separate "terrorist operations" that targeted the state security building and another security facility in Damascus. It blamed suicide bombers.

The report said the initial investigation shows involvement by al Qaeda.

Syria's violent crackdown on opposition protesters during the past year has, however, prompted the formation of a rebel militia, known as the Free Syria Army, members of which met CBS News correspondent Clarissa Ward when she sneaked into the closed nation posing as tourist several weeks ago.
