Club Fathom Gunfight: Nine people shot at night club Christmas party after gunfight, Tennessee - 25th Dec 2011

Nine people were shot after a fight broke out at a nightclub Christmas party.

Chattanooga police said that an off-duty officer who had been working at Club Fathom fired shots at a suspect who pointed a gun at him.

The officer was not wounded and the gunman got away.

Around 400 teens and adults were at the club when the fight broke out around midnight.

All those shot are expected to survive.

No arrests have been made, and it was not immediately known how the fight started.

Police say they are still working to gather details because of the number of victims and possible suspects involved.

Police Chief Bobby Dodd told News Channel 9 that the officer chased the suspect down the street when he pulled a gun and they exchanged shots.

Two of the victims are juveniles and the others are adults.

Police shut down four blocks as a result of the shooting as they try to collect evidence and investigate.

The shootings occurred at various locations in the center city, according to Sgt Jerri Weary of the Chattanooga Police Department. Read More
