On January 4, 1972, Rose Heilbron (1914-2005) became the first woman judge to sit at the
Old Bailey. She was also the first woman barrister to win a scholarship to
Gray's Inn, the first woman treasurer that honorable society, the first woman Recorder, and the first woman to be named King's Counsel.
